Finally the week is over! We got out of work a little early, I went and took care of Daisy, went shopping, and now I’m home. I have a bunch of stuff to do since I’m having some people over tomorrow, but I sat down and now I don’t feel like getting back up. I guess I thought that doing something constructive-like doing my blog-would make me feel like I’m working. LOL! I will eventually get up to dust and stuff-I hate when people think I’m a slob
Daisy got the day off today since she was pretty off yesterday. Yesterday I rode her for a while then picked up a canter to see what we had going on. To the right she was lovely. Soft, fairly collected, ridable. I moved to the left and she wouldn’t take it. I tried 3 or 4 times, then I asked Diane to get on her. I didn’t want to continue to make her feel like picking up the wrong lead is ok and I don’t want to train her wrong. Diane got the lead right away and took her around the outdoor arena with no problem. The only issue was that it was a very distinct 4 beat canter. That’s a very serious fault and it really made me worry. She better not be stuck like that! I think it’s just because she was sore-at least that’s what I’m hoping. Other than that, she was fine. Her trot work is really paying off.
So today she got a rub down. I linimented her back legs very well, gave her a massage, and stretched all her legs. On the right side she seemed stiff, but she really enjoyed herself overall. She sighed a lot and was very still and relaxed with her head down. She loves getting rubbed
I took her out for grass after that. It’s funny because when I grab her lead rope, she knows we’re going outside and not working so she nickers softly whenever I grab it and waits for me to put it on her. She ate some grass then I turned her out in a pasture. We walked in there together for a while-she was hanging out by herself sniffing in the pasure so I thought I could get out and leave her in there. No way. She saw me try to leave and YELLED across the field. She walked right up to the gate and demanded to be taken out too. I took her out, let her eat a bit more, then headed back to the stall. A Daisy Dream Come True. She LOVES days like this!
I’m planning on giving her a little time off, then getting back on maybe Tuesday. I’ll probably keep rubbing her with liniment and see if it helps anything, too. After that, I’ll call the vet for a lameness evaluation. Hopefully she’ll be better after just a little time off again, though.
OK-back to what I’m supposed to be doing; cleaning!
